Refund Policy
Last updated:
This policy explains when you can get your money back for Content Machine, how to ask, and how long it takes. It applies to every workspace subscription and add-on, and sits alongside our Terms of Service.
At a glance
- A 14-day free trial on every workspace, with no card required — you cannot be charged by mistake.
- A 30-day money-back guarantee on your first payment — tell us and we refund it in full.
- Statutory withdrawal rights are always honoured, whatever the rest of this policy says.
- Cancel any time. Your workspace stays open until the end of the period you have paid for.
1. Who you are buying from
Payments for Content Machine are handled by Paddle, acting as our Merchant of Record. Paddle is an authorised reseller of our product, which means your payment contract is with Paddle rather than with Content Hub SAS, and Paddle appears on your card or bank statement.
In practice this means two things. Paddle's own Buyer Terms and Refund Policy apply to your purchase alongside this page. And when a refund is due, we authorise it and Paddle issues the money — we cannot return a card payment ourselves. You are always welcome to come to us first; we will pass it on.
2. Try before you pay
Every workspace starts with a 14-day free trial of the plan you select. We do not ask for card details to start a trial, so there is nothing to cancel and no way to be charged by accident — if you do nothing, the trial simply expires. The trial is the best way to find out whether Content Machine fits how you work, and we would rather you used it than asked for a refund later.
You are charged for the first time only when you choose to upgrade and enter payment details yourself. That upgrade is the transaction the rest of this policy refers to.
3. 30-day money-back guarantee
If Content Machine is not right for you, tell us within 30 days of your first paid charge and we will refund that charge in full. You do not need to justify the request, and there is no form to fill in.
The guarantee covers the first payment on a workspace — the one taken when you upgrade, whether that is at the end of a trial or before it. It applies once per customer.
4. Your statutory right of withdrawal
Depending on where you live, you may have a legal right to withdraw from a purchase within a fixed window. That right exists regardless of anything else on this page, and nothing here limits it.
| Where you are | Window |
|---|---|
| EU / EEA, Switzerland, United Kingdom | 14 days |
| Turkey, Israel | 14 days |
| South Korea, Brazil, Canada, China | 7 days |
| Singapore | 5 days |
Three things are worth knowing about how this works for a subscription:
- The withdrawal right applies to the first payment of a subscription. It does not reset on each renewal.
- Because Content Machine is a digital service delivered immediately, the right can end once you start using the workspace, where you asked for immediate access and acknowledged that at checkout.
- Statutory withdrawal rights are generally granted to consumers rather than businesses. If they do not apply to you, our 30-day guarantee above still does.
5. Renewals
Subscriptions renew automatically — monthly plans every month, annual plans every year — until you cancel. Paddle emails you before a renewal wherever that notice is required, and always before a price change.
Renewals fall outside the 30-day guarantee, which covers your first payment only. But an auto-renewal that catches you by surprise is not something we want to profit from: if you contact us within 14 days of a renewal charge and have not used the workspace since it renewed, we will refund that renewal in full and close the subscription.
6. Cancelling mid-term
You can cancel at any time from your account settings. Cancelling stops the next charge; it does not end your current period. Your workspace stays fully available until the end of the period you have already paid for, and then billing stops.
Outside the windows described above, we do not pro-rate refunds for the unused part of a period. If you are mid-way through an annual term and your needs have changed, talk to us before cancelling — moving to monthly billing at renewal, or reducing add-ons, is usually a better outcome than a refund.
7. Add-ons
Extra members, extra social accounts and extra storage are billed on the same cycle as the workspace they belong to. Adding one part-way through a cycle is charged pro rata for the remainder of that cycle.
Removing an add-on takes effect at the end of the current cycle, and the remainder of the cycle is not refunded. If you added something by mistake, tell us within 14 days and we will put it right.
8. What we cannot refund
- Renewal charges older than the 14-day window in section 5, or where the workspace has been used since the renewal.
- Requests where there is evidence of fraud, refund abuse, or repeated sign-up-and-refund behaviour. Paddle applies this independently of us.
- Accounts terminated for a breach of the Acceptable Use Policy.
- Enterprise agreements, which are governed by their own signed order form rather than by this page.
9. How to request a refund
Either route works, and neither is faster than the other:
- Email us at support@contentmachine.so with the email address you signed up with and, if you have it, the Paddle order or invoice number. We reply within two business days.
- Or go directly to Paddle at paddle.net, which looks up your order from your email address and card details and lets you raise the request with them.
You do not need to give a reason. If you are willing to tell us what went wrong, it genuinely helps us fix it — but it is not a condition of the refund.
10. How refunds are paid
Refunds are issued by Paddle to the original payment method. There is no option to receive one by another route, or as account credit.
Once approved, the money is sent within 14 days and typically appears on a card statement within 5–10 business days, depending on your bank. Any VAT or sales tax charged on the original transaction is refunded along with it.
When a refund is issued the associated subscription ends and access to the workspace stops. Export anything you want to keep first — see Data Export in the Terms.
11. Chargebacks
If you do not recognise a charge, or you think something has gone wrong, please contact us before asking your bank to reverse it. A chargeback locks the payment while the card scheme investigates, which usually means your workspace is suspended and the whole thing takes far longer than simply emailing us.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The version that applies to a purchase is the one published when that purchase was made, and we will update the “Last updated” date above whenever it changes. Material changes are announced by email or in-app before they take effect.
